FIBBR Crystal Model HDMI is Designer Friendly, Integrator Approved

October 12,2018

Every day it seems that more and more integrators are realizing the importance of a designer-focused mentality. From the numerous examples in Connected Design to the rumblings from the most influential associations in the industry - it's obvious that now is the time to begin shifting our way of thinking.

And luckily, manufacturers are paying attention as well. Which is especially exciting because that means the industry will start to see brand new innovations that are as beautiful as they are powerful.

Enter stage left, FIBBR Crystal fiber optic active HDMI cables. The lightweight HDMI solution is made of glass fibers - exclusively from YOFC, the world's largest fiber producer - and pack an industry-standard 4K@60Hz 4:4: signal in a transparent jacket to 'disappear' into any aesthetic.

“Integrators now have an efficient solution to reliably pass high bandwidth content for installations where cables cannot be concealed,” said Joe Zhang, FIBBR's Product Manager. “Crystal's design significantly reduces its appearance, blending with décor, rather than detracting from it.”

FIBBR Crystal combines Data Display Channel and Hot Plug Detection signals in a single copper wire for full HDCP2.2 operations. It also uses FIBBR's TransFuture technology and two microcontroller units to manage signals. Like all HDMI models from FIBBR, Crystal features FIBBR’s proprietary BendRobust technology is an industry first, that allows the fiber to be bent 180-degrees for easy management of difficult placements.

Crystal, like all FIBBR models, is designed to meet the needs of today's data-rich entertainment, reliably carrying uncompressed, native 4K content at 18Gbps up to 165ft (50m) - although the standard length will be 5m and special order for anything beyond that will be special order. Unlike other systems on the market, Crystal and all FIBBR HDMI models feature a true plug-and-play system—FIBBR's proprietary technology delivers the power direct from AC coupling, eliminating the need for external power on the receiving end.

Additionally, FIBBR Crystal cables are single-directional, so to ensure a trouble-free installation, the connectors are labeled Source and Display ends with a SmartLED indicator on the Source connector to quickly and easily confirm proper connection and operation status.

FIBBR Crystal cables will be available in September and on display at CEDIA booth 1206.
